Today, I will follow the link below and send in the name in my heart I wish the Ghanaian industry in called by and this is why…
Your name is a call to your spirit… this is why in our culture we name a child so soon after they are born as a deliberate act. We don’t wait for the child to grow and the organic circumstances of their lives determine their name…
We give the name with the hope that the universe confers on the individual the energy behind the name… so for instance my name Yaa Asantewa, given to me by my parents, including Juliet Asante, I believe has gone a long way in shaping me I believe…
I take #inspiration from my name. Sometimes when I feel down, I remember that I was born on a #Thursday… Assase Yaa… Mother Earth! And that Yaa Asantewaa was one of the greatest women to have ever lived. I can only hope that that #energy keeps me deliberate and achieving
Without a name, I am nobody. As it is now, Ghanaian films don’t really have an identity, despite what we think! Just go on Netflix and look for a Ghanaian film and see what category it is under… as such a proud people and the #Black Star of Africa, should we simply become followers?
A name represents future aspirations and the journey in between… as Africans, it is our very foundation…
(#Coming to America)
We are transforming, if perchance you haven’t noticed. But remember that to run, you have to walk first, and even sometimes go back to gather speed…
If you are a #Ghanaian, all this should matter to you because our films sell us, it sells our culture, it attracts people to us, good or bad, ridicule or pride… it impacts our own #brains… just look at yourself and the next person and tell me that all the films you have ever watched from whichever country and tell me it hasn’t helped defined your thinking of that country and it’s people?
NOW THINK OF THE COUNTRIES THAT HAVE A DELIBERATE NAME FOR THEIR FILM INDUSTRY VS THOSE THAT DON’T… and let me know if having a name was a good or bad thing…
Did you know for instance that the French and Germans make great films? What’s their name again? 🤔
And so Yes, the name doesn’t determine who you become… it doesn’t make you if you don’t put in the effort… as a child your name may not mean much to you besides letting you know that it is YOU… BUT THEN WE ARE NOT CHILDREN, ARE WE?
